A GUIDE TO EFFECTIVE THERMAL WEED CONTROL WITH RIPAGREEN®
Thermal weeding is an ecological and effective method of getting rid of weeds without using chemicals. This process uses heat to cause a thermal shock to unwanted plants, causing them to die back quickly. Here’s how to use this technique correctly to get the best results. Thermal weeding involves using a thermal weeding device, such as our Ripagreen® lance, to apply heat directly to the weeds. The intense heat causes a thermal shock that destroys the plant’s cells, causing it to die within a few days.
Instructions for optimum thermal weeding
1. Distance from ground :
- Keep the appliance about 20 cm from the ground. This distance is crucial to avoid burning the plants, which could paradoxically act as a fertiliser and encourage regrowth. This is sufficient.
2. Duration of application :
- A 3-second pass is all it takes. You’ll see the plant wilt before your very eyes, a sign that the heat shock has been effective. There is no need to prolong exposure, as this could cause unnecessary damage to the soil or the treated surface.
3. Weather conditions :
- Avoid weeding in very dry weather to prevent the risk of fire and damage to surrounding plants.
- Our short, rigid flame makes it possible to weed in the rain or in light breezes. These conditions do not affect the effectiveness of thermal weeding, and in rainy weather it can be even more effective because the thermal shock is even greater.
Advantages of thermal weeding
Respect for the environment:
- Thermal weeding does not damage the surrounding environment or street furniture. There are no black marks left by the device, making it ideal for use in public spaces.
Compatibility with different types of floor:
- This method is effective on many types of surface, including asphalt, gravel, rubber or tartan coverings (such as those in playgrounds), marble, wood chips (paying attention to their thickness and coarseness), flagstones, and patio tiles.
Unaffected by the weather
- Unlike chemical weeding, thermal weeding is not subject to rain or wind. This is especially true with the technology developed by Ripagreen. A short flame emerges from our fan-shaped nozzle. The pulsating hot air is transformed into a rigid flame. Unlike a long, flexible flame, our flame will not be volatile in the wind, so you can weed in the rain and/or a light breeze without fear.
Thermal weeding with Ripagreen® is a practical, environmentally-friendly solution for getting rid of weeds. By following these instructions, you can keep your outdoor spaces clean and tidy without harming the surrounding ecosystem. Try this method for an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional chemical herbicides and without consuming water or fuel.
